Healthy Breakfast Day 27.1.2017 in Tesomajärvi, Ikuri and Kalkunvuori

We had a very successful Healthy Breakfast Day in Finland at the end of January. All the parents were invited to have a free healthy breakfast at school with their child. There were many who wanted to come:) we had more than 500 people eating breakfast on January 27th at Tesomajärvi, Ikuri and Kalkunvuori. This kid of happenings are rare in Finland. The parents were really grateful and we got a lot of good feedback. Many parents were chatting at the tables with each other after eating and enjoying the time together.

Some pupils interviewed the parents about their eating habits. They made some diagrams of the results.

We also had visitors to help with the information we wanted to pass on to the children. They were students who are studying at the Health Care Institution to become a nurse. Here are some of them.
The pupils were told about how to spend the time in the afternoon wisely - it is not healthy to spend hours by the computer, TV or phone.

There was a sugar exhibition. Many products contain a lot more sugar that we expect.

There was also information about eating habits and how much energy do you need in a day. The sports classes had their own lectures designed for children who train a lot.

Sports in the classrooms

Irlantiin / To Ireland

In spring five six graders are going to Ireland. We are really waiting for it.

Keväällä viisi kuudesluokkalaista menee Irlantiin. Odotamme kovasti sitä.

Matkaan valitut oppilaat ovat Elle, Anniina, Laura, Niklas ja Konsta. These were the children that were chosen to Ireland.
