4th project meeting in Ireland, May 2017

The 4th project meeting was held in Ireland in the spring of 2017. There were Finnish teachers travelling to the project meeting and pupils travelling to their learning activities during the same week (May 6th/7th-12th). There were five 6th grade children that were chosen to travel to Ireland. Here we are at the airport in Copenhagen waiting for the next flight to Dublin.
We arrived in Dublin on Sunday afternoon, got to the hostel and went walking to the city centre. The weather was really nice. There were a lot of people having a picnic in the park.

On Monday we had a meeting with some of the teachers and pupils from the partner school. They had travelled by train to Dublin from Tralee. We went on a Viking bus tour and visited Croke Park Stadium with them.
Some new vikings...

Learning how to play hurling.

We travelled to Tralee by train with our friends. It took four hours. On Tuesday morning we had a meeting at the school with the local media. We also had practiced a performance of  the similarities and differences of Finland and Ireland with song, dance, music and power point pictures. It was funny;)
We also went to see the classes in smaller groups.

Then had some project presentations of the food maps that we had prepared earlier at school. The topic was food traditions of each country in a visual presentation.

Wednesday was a culture day. We had a bus and drove along the coastline in the Dingle Peninsula.

We had a traditional Irish lunch in Dingle - fish and chips!

On Thursday the teachers had a project meeting and the children were attending the classes. In the afternoon we visited Killarney national park.

On Friday morning the children baked traditional scones at school and we had some tea at the staff room.

Then it was time to head back home. Thank you Ireland! We had a lot of fun;) See you all again!
